Photography for Social Change Symposium Date - March 21, 2017 Time - 5:00 - 8:00pm Location - CCS campus; Walter B. Ford II Building, Wendell W. Anderson Jr. Auditorium Description - Photographers have often used their cameras as an instrument of reform, to show the world a problem and convince people to work toward a solution. The human process of remembering images as events is what makes the media of photography so poignant in the role of bringing attention to society’s ills. The College for Creative Studies has invited well know photographers and activists Ms. Wendy Ewald & Mr. Vincent Cianni to discuss with the CCS community how their efforts brought attention to their particular causes. CCS professors Mr. Bill Vilicenti and Mr. Carlos Diaz will also discuss their experiences with their classes and students for the “Re-Documenting Detroit" project in conjunction with the Detroit Historical Society - recreating iconic shots of present-day Detroit to parallel images from the past.
