On June 21,2018  Mahindra North America will have contributed over $400,000 in cash and equipment to support sustainable farming and urban growers in and around the city of Detroit-  a city recognized for pioneering the urban growing movement.

These grants have been responsible for growing over 1.25 million lbs of food for Detroit residents and distributed more than 200,000 seeds and seedlings across 1,600 Detroit gardens.

As the number one producer of tractors by volume globally, and number 3 in the U.S, Mahindra is committed to many agricultural related causes around the world

Examples of the range and scope of Mahindra's local agriculture funding have included:

  • Full Circle Foundation to fund a summer intern employment program for developmentally disabled teens and young adults
  • The Greening of Detroit to support the Build-A-Garden program that provides assistance to gardeners across the city.
  • Keep Growing Detroit to install technology that will enable low-income individuals and families to use government issued EBT bridge cards to buy produce and seedlings from the Grown in Detroit program.
  • Neighbors Building Brightmoor to partially fund, along with Mahindra North America, the purchase of a Mahindra tractor with attachments.
  • Micah 6 Community to build a 2,000 square foot greenhouse at the Webster Community Center in Pontiac.
  • Pingree Farms to purchase a Mahindra tractor for use at the 13-acre farm site.

This year 8 organizations will receive grants which are announced at the June 21 event.

Detroit Cobras

Blurring the lines between R&B and R&R and soul, the Cobras are THE go-to party band for those in the know. Surrounding themselves with a rotating cast of some of Motown's finest rockers, the Cobras specialize in unearthing and reinvigorating the hits, near hits and sometimes total misses from the deep and groovy history of soul, and making them their own.

Mahindra is the world’s largest tractor company by volume and the third in the US. Their North American technical center opened in Metro Detroit in 2013. Later this year Mahindra will announce a facility which will be the first new automotive assembly facility in Metro Detroit in 25 years.

The Greening of Detroit's mission is to enhance the quality of life for Detroiters by planting trees, repurposing the land to create beautiful and productive green spaces and helping communities rebuild neighborhoods one lot at a time. Recipient of Mahindra Urban Agriculture grants, they also are the beneficiary of the concert series starting July 27.
