Midtown Detroit Inc. is pleased to announce the selection of Sasaki to lead a district plan that will shape an aspirational vision and develop and urban design framework for TechTown - an innovation district located in Midtown, Detroit. The TechTown District Plan will be the aspirational framework for development over the next 20 years.  The Plan will establish an urban design framework for the District, identify key parcels for development, identify public realm and infrastructure improvements, define programs, and prioritize opportunities. The Plan will become a “road map” for the District’s leadership and will help build momentum and support for a vibrant, mixed-use innovation district.

Sasaki was selected after participating in invited RFP process and ideas competition amongst 5 nationally recognized design firms that also included Interboro Partners, KieranTimberlake, MGA Partners, and Payette.

Sasaki will work with the advisory firm, U3 Advisory, and Midtown Detroit Inc., and an advisory committee representing the district’s stakeholders to complete the district plan by early 2013.
