The Birmingham-based flower shop Blossoms will expand with the opening Thursday of a storefront in Detroit's Midtown district. The storefront will also feature an art space with works from students and young artists, called Blossoming Artists.

Owners Norman Silk and Dale Morgan renovated the building at 4152 Third St. to look like a "vintage garden with flowers and plants openly displayed throughout the store," Silk said in a news release. The store will also feature antique fixtures and repurposed items that will be used to display the items. They've owned the 67-year-old Art Moderne (a type of late Art Deco-style architecture) building for more than 30 years.
