New Great Lakes Coffee shop emerges in Midtown

Plenty of coffee lovers live in Midtown. Great Lakes Coffee Shop is ready to bring more love to neighborhood.
 
Great Lakes Coffee, whose roaster is in Bloomfield Hills, is the company’s first retail shop and also includes a wine bar. There is an outdoor seating area on the patio for guests to soak up the sun while sipping on a beverage of their choice.  
 
Architects, Joel Schmidt and Liz Skrisson, of D MET Design worked on the space. The construction management was done by the Novi company Cunningham-Limp Development.
 
The open space is full of natural sunlight and shiny wooden benches.
 
Cadariu says that the shop offers an all-day experience.
 
"At most coffee shops the busiest time is in the morning," he says, "whereas here we are busy all day since we sell other items as well."
 
At Great Lakes Coffee, employees "treat coffee as high end beer or wine," says Cadariu.  
 
He is convinced that Midtown is the ideal spot to open Great Lakes Coffee, since the area is a "melting pot."
 
"Detroit was the only place for us," he says. "There’s a nice cross-section, people from different cultures and different backgrounds."
