Second Avenue Converted to Two-Way Traffic

As of Monday, June 23, Second Avenue will operate as a two way street between Temple and Warren. An indirect left turn lane from westbound Warren to southbound Second Avenue has been constructed. There will be parallel parking, a bike lane, and a vehicle traffic lane in each direction along with a center turn lane.

Midtown Detroit, Inc. has advocated for this change and is pleased to announce its completion. This project is one of many efforts to maintain the historical integrity of Midtown. Second Avenue was historically a two way street. Additionally, studies show that conversions similar to this improve traffic safety, reduce crime, and raise property values.
