Over two million visitors come to Midtown annually to experience the largest concentration of cultural, educational and medical institutions in southeast Michigan.
Probably the most unique destination in Detroit, Midtown is the birthplace of the legendary aviator Charles Lindberg and home to the Dodge Brothers, who tinkered in their garage to create world famous automobiles. The area has many historical districts featuring beautifully restored homes and renovated buildings preserving the architecture of the era.
Over two million visitors come to Midtown annually to experience the largest concentration of cultural, educational and medical institutions in southeast Michigan including the Detroit Institute of Arts, Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, Wayne State University, College for Creative Studies, Detroit Medical Center, Karmanos Cancer Institute, and Henry Ford Health System. Midtown is also home to 80 restaurants, 13 theatres, 12 galleries, 8 museums, 2 historic inns, 2 hardware stores, 2 radio stations, 2 dry cleaners, and a symphony orchestra - all within a few square miles, much of it walkable.
