DPS, Arts Groups Collaborate to Transform Detroit School of Arts

Detroit — It's envisioned as Detroit's own Juilliard School, a high-caliber educational experience for city students studying music, art and dance.

But the outcome of a planned transformation at the Detroit School of Arts depends on the work and vision of members of its new governing council, made up of arts leaders in Metro Detroit.

Mondays at the Max with Wayne State

The April 16 concert features the University Orchestra with Kypros Markou as conductor. The program will highlight Rimsky-Korsakov's colorful and ever popular Scheherazade. Mondays at the Max with Wayne State Winter Season 2012 ends with this concert.

Arts & Community Development Workshop

The U-M School of Social Work is holding an Arts & Community Development workshop on Monday, April 16, 2012 from 1:00pm – 4:00pm.

They have three self-released LPs out, ranging from sparse acoustic morality tales to riffs stacked atop riffs at lightning speed; the most recent of these LPs is called Magic Isn’t Real (which you can stream in its entirety here) and was released in the fall of 2010 by the Boston MA-based band.
